Our Forests
Looking Towards
The Future
Since our forests provide so much for our company and community, we make an effort to give back to the environment from which we take. Our main priority is planting and nurturing new trees following the harvest of those used at our mill, since we appreciate the many benefits that forests provide to our natural environment.
At Frank Lumber, we look towards the future of the foresting industry and envision innovative strategies to promote the health of our forests and the wildlife that lives within them. We own 17,000 acres of timberland and the quantity of trees within it is greater than what we started with, since our annual harvests never exceed timber growth. These harvest patterns not only benefit the future of the lumber industry, but also promotes the health of our environment by increasing carbon dioxide absorption and storage. Even after our trees are harvested and processed, the wood continues to store carbon, making it the ideal sustainable building material.

alive and well
Frank Timber Resources, the forestry branch of our company, is certified with American Tree Farm System which provides a set of strict international guidelines on how to nurture timber land effectively. Our expert foresters follow a 60+ year harvest rotation to ensure that trees fully mature which increases the quality of lumber. They aim to educate locals on the benefits of productive forestry and how they can contribute, since creating a sustainable environment is a team effort. This includes providing information on fire safety, since we know first-hand how devastating fires can be for our forests and surrounding communities. Our foresters reduce fire risk by performing controlled burns under the direction of the Oregon Department of Forestry after harvesting to decrease the quantity of fire fuel available if a fire starts near our land.

Utilizing 100% of our logs
We believe every tree is valuable, so we take advantage of every inch of every log we harvest by creating residual products such as wood chips, sawdust, shavings, and bark dust. These products are sold throughout Oregon and used to manufacture our pellets which prevents unnecessary, excessive waste from accumulating at our mill.
