Frank Timber Resources
Family Owned For Four Generations
Frank Timber Resources is proud to be a fourth-generation family owned business. Amandus J. Frank began purchasing forested timberland early in his career and our family now owns 17,000 acres in Linn, Marion, Clackamas, and Multnomah counties. The biggest acquisition we have made was the purchase of 4,634 acres in 1977 which we refer to as our Gordon Creek property. It is an excellent timber growing site that has been harvested in 41 different calendar years. Through responsible timberland management, more than the original volume has been harvested and the current merchantable inventory is greater than when we purchased the property.
We also own 600 acres of farmland in Marion county, with one of our farms in an area where there are several vineyards. Over the years we have grown wheat, mint, row crops, and grass seed. Currently, a majority of our farmland is leased to other farmers, with the remaining being dedicated to a small Christmas tree farm we enjoy managing.
We Grow Our Forests With Quality In Mind
- •Scheduling annual harvests that do not exceed timber growth.
- •60 + year harvest rotations allowing trees to grow longer making for a better resource input into high quality lumber production.
- •Post harvest fuels treatment to decrease the risk of fire danger. This includes piling and burning slash in cooperation with and under the direction of the Oregon Department of Forestry.
- •Reforesting with high quality Douglas-fir seedings grown in local nurseries.
- •Vegetation management and interplanting ensuring young reforestation establishes a healthy growth pattern.
- •Thinning at around 30 years to space out residual stands so they can keep growing for another 30 + years.
